Overview

Tribhuvan University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Central Department of Rural Development, offers a Master of Arts in Rural Development program. This program equips students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed in the rural development sector.

It prepares high-level manpower with expertise in socio-economic development, sustainable practices, political and tourism development, disaster management, population studies, and rural–urban linkages. Students also gain competency to undertake rural projects, use ICT tools for development, and contribute to grassroots-level policy making.

Objectives of MA Rural Development

• Provide students with multilateral skills in both theoretical and practical aspects of rural development.
• Prepare students to arrange, plan, and execute rural and community-oriented development programs.
• Build capacity to work with decentralized governments at local, state, and federal levels.
• Develop passionate professionals who can facilitate socio-economic transformation in Nepal.

Admission Requirements

Eligibility:

• Applicants must have at least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline from Tribhuvan University or a recognized university.
• Applicants must pass the entrance exam with sufficient marks to secure a position in the merit list.

Entrance Exam:

• Based on multiple-choice objective questions.
• Total marks: 100 (subject to change).
• Questions are from Bachelor’s and Intermediate-level courses.
